Shave Plate and Skid Shoes
The shave olate and skid shoes on the bottom ofthe snow
thrower are subject to wear. They should be checked periodically
and replaced when necessary.
To remove skid shoes:
' 1 .
R e m o v e t h e f o u r c a r r i a g e b o l t s a n d h e x f l a n g e n u t s w h i c h
secure them to the snow thrower.
2 .
R e a s s e m b l e n e w s k i d s h o e s w i t h t h e f o u r c a r r i a g e b o l t s
( t w o o n e a c h s i d e ) a n d h e x f l a n g e n u t s . R e f e r t o F i g . 6 - 1 .

To remove shave plate:
1 .
R e m o v e t h e c a r r i a g e b o l t s a n d h e x n u t s w h i c h a t t a c h i t t o
t h e s n o w t h r o w e r h o u s i n g .
2.
Reassemble new shave plate, making sure heads of carriage
b o l t s a r e t o t h e i n s i d e o f h o u s i n g . T i g h t e n s e c u r e l y .
Tire Pressure
Before operating, check tire pressure and reduce pressure to
b e t w e e n 1 5 p s i a n d 2 0 p s i .
lf the tire pressure is not equal in both tires, the unit may pull to
o n e s i d e o r t h e o t h e r .
[ubrication
Gear Shaft
T h e g e a r ( h e x ) s h a f t s h o u l d b e l u b r i c a t e d a t l e a s t o n c e a s e a s o n
or after every twenty-f ive (25) hours of operation.

C a r e f u l l y p i v o t t h e s n o w t h r o w e r u p a n d f o r w a r d s o t h a t i t
r e s t s o n t h e a u g e r h o u s i n g .
2 .
R e m o v e t h e f r a m e c o v e r f r o m t h e u n d e r s i d e o f t h e s n o w
thrower by removing four self-tapping screws which secure
it. Refer to Fig 7-3.
3 .
A p p l y a l i g h t c o a t i n g o f e n g i n e o i l ( o r 3 - i n - 1 o i l ) t o t h e h e x
s h a f t . S e e F i g . 6 - 2 .
NOIE; When lubrication the hex shaft, be careful not to get
a n y o i l o n t h e a l u m i n u m d r i v e p l a t e o r t h e r u b b e r f r i c t i o n
w h e e l . D o i n g s o w i l l h i n d e r t h e s n o w t h r o w e r ' s d r i v e
s y s t e m . W i p e o f f a n y e x c e s s o r s p i l l e d o i l .

Wheels
At least once a season, remove both wheels. Clean and coat the
a x l e s w i t h a m u l t i p u r p o s e a u t o m o t i v e g r e a s e b e f o r e r e i n s t a l l i n g
w h e e l s .
