Model Q1400
Photoelectric smoke alarms are designed to detect visible particles
(associated with slow smouldering fires). Home fires develop in different
ways and are often unpredictable. For maximum protection against fast
flaming fires and slow smouldering fires, both ionisation and photoelectric
alarms should be installed.

A Quell Q1400 alarm could go off continuously without smoke or fire due to the following reasons:

1. Nuisance Alarms – If the alarm is installed too close to a cooking area, steam, or combustion particles from cooking can trigger it. Pressing the Hush button can temporarily desensitize the alarm for about 10 minutes.

2. Environmental Factors – High and low temperature cycling can affect the alarm’s function. The recommended operating temperature is 20-30°C.

3. Fault Condition – If the alarm does not flash an LED when sounding, it may indicate a processor fault.

4. Improper Installation – If the alarm is not properly mounted on its bracket, it may not function correctly.

5. Battery or Internal Fault – The alarm has a sealed lithium battery designed to last 10 years. If the battery or internal components degrade, it may cause false alarms.

Relocating the alarm to a more suitable location, ensuring proper installation, and testing it can help resolve the issue.
