Manitowoc A-1100 Replacement Instructions

A-2200, A-1100, B-1100, C-1100 SERIES MACHINES
WITH BRISTOL REPLACEMENT COMPRESSOR
The Bristol model M13A163**** compressor is set up as a
direct field replacement for the Tecumseh AH7514A
compressor. The mounting foot pattern on the Bristol is
exactly the same as the Tecumseh. To get the tubing to line
up, the Bristol compressor should be turned 90°. In the case
of the 1100 series, the compressor terminal box will be back
against the ice machine's bulkhead.
The A, B, and C vintage machines have 3/4" suction lines; the
Bristol is set up with 5/8". A short piece of 5/8" tubing is
needed to be used as an adapter sleeve.

existing tubing. All the other tubes are readily field adaptable.
The Bristol does use a different start capacitor, run capacitor,
and start relay. These are supplied with service compressors.
They must be changed at the time of installation.
The Bristol compressor is wired the same as the Tecumseh
and will take the same nameplate refrigerant charge. It is
important to change the drier whenever opening the
refrigeration system. Check your Manitowoc Parts Manual
for correct drier size.
If this Bristol compressor is replacing a Copeland Compressor, a lead wire conversion kit, 7621883, may be necessary. This is
available through your local Manitowoc distributor.
This replacement compressor may be different than the original compressor and/or have slightly different tubing configurations. The
suction line, discharge line, and/or suction service line at the compressor may need to be rerouted, when making this change-out.

installed in the machine with the compressor terminal box to
the front of the machine. The process tube can be easily bent
into position.
The Bristol compressor is wired the same as the Tecumseh
and will take the same nameplate refrigerant charge.
