Two types of wireless mode

ScanSnap can be connected to a computer or mobile device via either of the following Wireless modes.

Access Point Connect mode

If you can connect a computer or mobile device to a wireless access point, you can connect ScanSnap
via the same wireless access point.
In the following cases, you cannot connect ScanSnap in Access Point Connect mode. In such case, try
to connect ScanSnap in Direct Connect mode.
- When you cannot connect to the wireless access point because the wireless LAN environment
is unknown.
- When the communication is interrupted though you connect ScanSnap to the wireless access point.
- When you cannot disable a privacy separator function of the wireless access point because it exists in
a public wireless LAN environment such as an airports.
- When you are in a security protected wireless network where the wireless devices cannot
communicate mutually.

Direct Connect mode

You can connect ScanSnap directly via the wireless LAN if there is no wireless access point, or a
computer or mobile device cannot be connected to the wireless access point. Once the wireless mode
switches to the Direct Connect mode, ScanSnap will broadcast SSID in place of the wireless access
point. You can use ScanSnap in Direct Connect mode by connecting a computer or mobile device to
the SSID of the ScanSnap via Wi-Fi. However, you cannot establish internet connection or connection
between devices because there is no wireless access point function in ScanSnap.
