12.3.3 Cordless handset
Problem
The cordless handset
does not work.
The cordless handset will
not turn ON.
The battery should be
charging but the battery
icon does not change.
A busy tone is heard and
"Busy" is displayed when
{TALK} is pressed.
Static, sound cuts in/out,
fades. Interference from
other electrical units.
The cordless handset
stops working while being
used.
While storing an item in
the phonebook, the
cordless handset starts to
ring.
I cannot redial by
pressing {REDIAL}.
The cordless handset
beeps intermittently while
it is in use.
I charged the battery fully,
but "Recharge" is still
displayed.
I cannot receive
documents by pressing
{MENU/SET} and {*} on
the cordless handset.
I cannot register a
cordless handset to a
base unit.
The speakerphone is not
working.
Cause & Solution
L Make sure that the battery is installed correctly (page 6).
L Charge the battery fully (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L Check that the power cord is connected properly.
L The cordless handset has not been registered to the base unit.
Register the cordless handset (page 58).
L Re-install the battery (page 6) and charge it fully.
L Make sure that the battery is installed correctly (page 6).
L Charge the battery fully (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L The AC adaptor is disconnected. Plug in the AC adaptor.
L The cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and
try again.
L The base unit or another cordless handset is on an outside call.
Wait for the other user to complete the call.
L Move the cordless handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
L Move closer to the base unit.
L Reset the unit and try again. To reset the base unit, disconnect the
power cord, then reconnect it. To reset the cordless handset,
disconnect the battery (page 6) for 10 seconds, then reconnect it.
L To answer a call, press {TALK} or {SP-PHONE}. Storing will be
canceled. Store the name and number again.
L If the last number dialed was more than 24 digits long, the number
will not be redialed correctly. Redial the number manually.
L Charge the battery fully (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L It is time to replace the battery (page 6).
L The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install paper (page 9) or
clear the jammed paper (page 71).
L The maximum number of cordless handsets are already registered
to the base unit. Cancel unused cordless handset registrations
(page 58).
L Locate the cordless handset and the base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
L Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.
L If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
