S4X technology, any of Induction Dynamics’ speakers can be used to build a custom home theater system. Your S1.8Swd can be combined with any of our center and surround speakers, be they in-wall, on-wall, or free-standing. For more details on S4X technology, see the “speaker information”... -
Page 5: General Information
The S1.8Swd mounts on drywall, preferably over studs, and should be placed in accordance with the type of system you are installing as discussed on page 7. The S1.8Swd was designed in such a way that the tweeter will be at ear level when the audience is sitting. The tweeter reproduces high-frequency audio, which our ears perceive as most directional, so we are most attuned to their level and placement. -

Use approved wire designed for in-wall or exposed use, as appropriate for your installation. For the S1.8Swd, we recommend using high-quality speaker wire that is 14 gauge or lower, with easily visible polarity coding to make your connections. The following chart identifies minimum gauge requirements for various lengths. -

Speaker Information S4X™ Crossover The heart of Induction Dynamics is found in the S4X™ Super Fourth-Order Crossover. The patented S4X inductively couples crossover coils and optimizes each driver’s performance, individually and interactively with the other drivers. This greatly increases control over driver range, frequency response, phase and impedance. -

Induction Dynamics reduces phase differences both horizontally and vertically through our Wide Angle® Phase Alignment technology. Because our patented circuitry provides additional variables that can help control phase, Wide Angle finds the one optimized solution that produces a flat frequency response along both the horiztonal and vertical axis. -
Page 9: Multi-Channel (Home Theater) Installation
A 5.1 system consists of a front left, front right, surround left, suround right, center channel, and subwoofer channel. An S1.8Swd functions as a rear surround speaker. In a home theater configuration, the main left and right channels should be placed a few feet from the front wall as close to listening height as possible. -

1. The S1.8Swd is shipped pre-assembled with the faceplate attached to the easy-mount box with bolts. In order to install the S1.8Swd onto the wall, you will first need to separate the faceplate from the box. First, remove the grille mounting flanges, using the grille mount- ing flange driver. -

Installing the Faceplate 1. Attach the speaker wires to the terminal block on the back of the faceplate, observing the proper polarity (red to red and black to black). To make connections, solder or crimp with high pressure the insulated fork terminals provided in your parts packet. Soldering is best. 2. -
