to read.

Autodiscrimination between bar codes

Your PTC's application program may be set up to read
and automatically discriminate between a number of
bar-code types. See your organization's application
manual or instructions for the bar-code types your
PTC is programmed to recognize.

Automatic keyboard recognition

The PTC automatically recognizes when a keyboard is
attached and can immediately accept input from it.

Automatic sleep and resume

Sleep

The PTC-870IM goes into a sleep state in each of the
following circumstances: if it is not used for a period
of time or if it is turned off using the On/Off button.
In the sleep state, the PTC turns off portions of its
internal electronics to conserve power.
The PTC has two stages of sleep. The first stage
begins after approximately 1 minute of inactivity or
when the Off button is pressed. The PTC's screen goes
blank, the backlight (if present) turns off, and other
subsystems inside the PTC may slow down or turn off
to conserve power. The PTC's Power LED blinks every
4 seconds to show that the PTC is in the first sleep
stage. The application program running at the time
stays on, and any data in RAM is protected.
