❑ Mark the four locations for the elevator hinges onto the elevator.
❑ Carefully cut four hinge slots in the leading edge of the elevator at the
marks that you drew.
IMPORTANT Make sure that you cut the hinge slots on the centerline
of the leading edge.
❑ Push one T-pin through the center of four hinges, then slide the hinges into
the hinge slots, making sure that you push each hinge in up to the T-Pins.
Don't glue the hinges into the elevator yet.
PRO TIP The T-pins will keep the hinges centered when you hinge the
elevator.
❑ Cut the corresponding hinge slots in the trailing edge of the stabilizer,
then push the elevator and its hinges into place.
IMPORTANT Again, make sure to cut the hinge slots on the centerline
of the trailing edge.
❑ Remove the T-Pins and push the elevator up against the trailing edge.
There should be no more than 1/32" wide hinge gap and the tips of the
elevator should not rub against the ends of the stabilizer.
❑ While holding the elevator tight against the trailing edge, pivot the elevator
down 45º and apply 3-4 drops of thin C/A to the exposed area of each hinge.
Turn the stabilizer over and repeat for the other side of the hinges.
