    Introduction Introduction The NVM Windows 2000 Voice Mail system can be integrated with an SMTP Server and can be configured to operate in a POP3 or IMAP4 environment. This document tells you how to upgrade your Voice Mail software to the latest version, and how to install the SMTP Email feature.

If the version is already 3.30.04 or higher, skip this section and go the Voice Mail to Installing the SMTP Feature on page 10.

The Voice Mail Registry Settings window appears. 2) Click the Features tab. Check to see that the SMTP component is installed. The E-mail integration checkbox should be checked The E-mail integration field should contain c:\vm\service\SmtpInteg.dll if using POP3 or, c:\vm\service\IMAP4Integ.dll if using IMAP4.

Mailboxes 1) Start the Voice Mail GUI. 2) From the GUI Menu bar, click Customize Mailbox Options Edit.

Whatever name is entered in this field will be used for Name Dialing and will also appear on the Email and on reports. 5) In the Email Name field, enter the Email address where the voice mail will be received.

Optionally, the Unified Messaging Client Mailbox Options software can be installed. This feature allows Email Integration to be set up locally from the client machine rather than from the Voice Mail server.

  • Page 26 SMTP - Simple Mail Transport Protocol SMTP - Simple Mail Transport Protocol SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is a TCP/IP protocol used in sending Email. SMTP uses a spooled or queued method of mail delivery. Once a message has been sent to a destination, the message is spooled to a device, usually a disk. However, since it is limited in its ability to queue messages at the receiving end, it is usually used with one of two other protocols, POP3 or IMAP, that lets the user save messages in a server mailbox and download them periodically from the server.

Here is how a typical SMTP connection works: Sequence The client has responsibility for delivering a message to one or more envelope recipients, or notifying an envelope sender if delivery is not made.
