To calculate your target heart rate use the following rule:
• Deduct your age from 220 e.g. for a 35 year old person,
their maximum heart rate (MHR) is 220 – 35 = 185
beats per minute.
• Decide the percentage of your MHR you want to work
at e.g. 85%.

As a guide:
• 50-70% MHR = Health / Fat Burning.
• 70 – 80% MHR = Fitness / Bodyshaping.
• 80 – 90% MHR = High intensity performance.
• Multiply your maximum heart rate by the percentage value
e.g. 185 x 0.85 = 157 bpm.

5. Now select your workout time (default is 60.00 minutes) using
INCLINE
and
or SPEED

to begin your workout.
The programme will start with a 3 minute warm up programme. Your heart rate will
be monitored at 30 second intervals. The aim is to reach your target heart rate by
the end of the 3 minute warm up period.
Failure to achieve your target heart rate will result in a second warm up period
commencing. During the first 3 minutes of warm up the treadmill will adjust the
speed to help you achieve your target heart rate, in the second 3 minutes of
warm up the incline will adjust. If you still do not reach your target heart rate after
6 minutes then you will enter a final warm up phase where the treadmill will not
adjust, but you will run for 3 minutes.
If you have reached your target heart rate at the end of any of the 3 minute warm
up programmes, then P8 will commence.
Failure to reach your target heart rate after a cumulative 9 minute warm up period,
then the computer will display FAIL:
You will need to reset your target heart rate to commence.
