Child Size: Height and Weight Limitations

Infant Carrier Capacities and Limitations
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics:
All infants should ride rear-facing until they have reached at least 1 year
of age and weigh at least 9.1 kg (20 lbs). That means that if your infant
reaches 9.1 kg (20 lbs) before their first birthday, they should remain
rear-facing at least until they turn 1 year old. It is best for children to ride
rear-facing to the highest weight or height allowed by the manufacturer.
Rear-Facing
Weight 1.8 – 10 kg (4 lbs – 22 lbs)
Use rear-facing only with children:
• who weigh between 1.8 – 10 kg
and
• who are 81.3 cm in height (32 in.) or less
• whose top of the head is one inch or more
below the top of the child seat shell and
• when the harness straps are located at the
harness height position at or below the child's shoulders.
IMPORTANT: See Adjusting the Harness on page 47.
WARNING!
The child has outgrown the infant carrier when:
• the child exceeds 10 kg (22 lbs) in weight
• the top of the head is less than one inch from top of the infant
carrier or
• height exceeds 81.3 cm (32 in.).

Using the Lower Universal Anchorage System (LUAS)

WARNING!
• Use either the Lower Connector System (LCS) or the vehicle
belt methods to install this child seat. Using both methods is
not approved and may cause the child seat not to perform as
intended.
• Verify that your vehicle is equipped with the Lower Universal
Anchorage System. If LUAS anchors are not available, you must
use vehicle belt installation methods.
• The lower connectors must be in an upright position and
the strap should be tight and not twisted to ensure proper
installation.
If a vehicle is equipped with LUAS, look for the LUAS symbol identifying
anchor locations.
The figure above shows typical locations for LUAS anchors and tether
anchors in a vehicle. Check your vehicle owner's manual for the exact
anchor locations, and information on use with an infant carrier.
