5. Maintaining Your Recorder

5.1 Heat, Moisture, and Static Electricity

Heat, moisture, and static electricity can damage your recorder. Keep the recorder
out of the sun and away from places where it might get wet or be subject to
excessive static electricity.

5.2 Replacing the Batteries

Be sure to turn off the unit when replacing batteries. Recordings could
be lost or the unit could be damaged if the power remains on during this
process.
• Turn the unit off. The power button turns the recorder on and off.
• Remove the battery door on the back of the recorder.
• Install two AAA batteries as shown on the inside of the battery compartment.
• Replace the battery door.
• The unit will flash "START" and a downward-pointing arrow will direct you to
the Power button. Press and release the Power button to continue startup.
• Be sure to set the clock for accurate date stamping of your recordings. See
Section 2.2 for instructions on setting the clock.
