Recordings stored on cards are accessed in the same manner as recordings stored
on the Recorder's internal memory. The display will indicate the memory you are
using: an I indicates that you are using the internal memory, and a C indicates that
you are using a memory card.
Because the cards use non-volatile flash memory technology, they will continue to
store recordings after they are removed from the recorder—as long as they are
handled with care. To protect your recordings, make sure the unit is turned off
before inserting or removing a card. Otherwise, treat them as you would treat a
computer floppy disk. Avoid bending or subjecting cards to sudden impact. Keep
them dry and away from dust, dirt, and liquids. For your protection, back up
important data.

• Press Power to turn off the recorder.
• Carefully slide the card door open.
• Insert the card and replace the door.
• If the words "UNKNOWN CARD," "PRESS DELETE," and "FOR 5 SEC TO
ERASE" appear, the card needs to be formatted for use in the recorder. Press
and hold Delete for approximately five seconds until you see the words
"ERASE? CARD," "ERASING CARD," and "ERASED CARD." This will erase all
contents and format the card.
