NORMAL RECORDING

Normal Recording
Before starting
X Turn the power on to all devices used.
X Load a cassette tape with erasure-prevention tab.
X Set the ON SCREEN switch to the "ON" position.
X Set the S-VHS switch to "ON" or "OFF" position.

Press the REC/PLAY SPEED l (or j) button to
set the recording speed mode.
Y The recording speed mode is displayed
on-screen and on the digital display.

Press the REC button.
Y The record indicator "m" light.
Y Recording starts.
Y If the tape end is reached while recording,
"OFF" is displayed on the digital display and
the unit will go into the mode set at the "TAPE
END MODE" item in the (SET UP 3) menu.
NOTES:
X If in the (SET UP 2) menu, in the BUZZER
section TAPE END is set to "Y", the buzzer will
be heard as long as "OFF" is displayed on the
digital display.
X To cancel the "OFF" display, press the STOP,
EJECT or PLAY button or turn the SHUTTLE
ring.

To stop recording, press the STOP button.
NOTES:
X A tape recording made on this VCR may not play
back with the same degree of clarity on a time lapse
from another manufacturer.
X If you press on the REC button and the loaded
cassette has no erasure-prevention tab, the VCR will
eject the cassette.

Record Pause
Recording can be interrupted temporarily.

Press the STILL/PAUSE button during recording.
Y The Pause/Still indicator "
NOTES:
X The image appears on-screen but it is not
recorded.
X If a recording pause continues for 5 minutes or
more, the VCR will go into stop mode to avoid
damaging the tape.

To resume recording, press the REC button, or
press the STILL/PAUSE button again.
S-VHS Recording
X S-VHS recording is only possible on a cassette tape
bearing the S-VHS logo.
S-VHS recording on an S-VHS cassette tape:
X Set the S-VHS switch to the "ON" position.
X The S-VHS indicator will light.
Standard VHS recording on an S-VHS cassette
tape:
X Set the S-VHS switch to the "OFF" position.
NOTES:
X During playback, the recording format is
automatically detected, so no setting is necessary.
X S-VHS recording on a standard VHS cassette tape is
not possible.
