7.5.3 Troubleshooting

Deviations from normal operating states of the fan coil units are evidence of malfunctions that
must be investigated by maintenance personnel.
The following table should serve as a starting point for maintenance personnel regarding possible
causes of trouble and their correction.

Switch on unit
Check fuse/power supply
Connect electrical cables
Replace fuses
Check the condensate drain
Check thermostat setting
Select a higher speed
Free air paths completely for unobstructed air flow
Set a lower RPM level
Clear discharge/air intake of obstructions or kinks
Replace the faulty fan
Clean/replace the filter
Switch on the fan
Select a higher RPM level
Unobstruct or clean airways
Check fan, replace if necessary
Clean/replace the filter
Check pump performance,
Check pipe run balance and adjust using calculated pressure loss
Switch on chilled water set,
Switch on the circulating pump,
Bleed the system
Switch on the heating system boiler,
Switch on the circulating pump,
Bleed the system
Insulate (correctly) chilled water pipes
Align unit and suspend it horizontally
Check condensate drain for sufficient gradient, if necessary clean and
fill siphon
Check power supply in the control box and at the pump
Check the pump for contamination (in the intake area)
