Self-Cleaning Models
Oven will not self
clean
Oven starts a self-
clean cycle when you
wanted to bake, roast
or broil.
"Cracking" or
"popping" sound
Excessive smoking
during a clean cycle
Oven door will not
unlock
Oven not clean after a
clean cycle

Possible Causes
The oven temperature is too high
to set a self-clean operation
Oven controls improperly set.
Oven door is not in the locked
position.
Oven door locked during cooking.
This is the sound of the metal
heating and cooling during
both the cooking and cleaning
functions
Excessive soil.
Oven too hot
Oven controls not properly set
Oven was heavily soiled
What To Do
• Allow the range to cool to room temperature and reset
the controls.
• See the Using the self-cleaning oven section.
Make sure the door is closed.
Turn the oven temperature to OFF. Allow oven to cool.
This is normal.
Press the OFF button Open your windows and rid the room
of smoke. Wait until the light on the CLEAN pad goes off.
Wipe up the excess soil and reset the clean cycle.
Allow the oven to cool below locking temperature

Clean up heavy spillovers before starting. Heavily soiled
ovens may need to self clean again or for a longer period
of time.
