Battery charging

When a ViewPoint touch panel is not cradled on the docking station, an optional battery can be
placed in the charging compartment. The optional battery begins charging when the optional power
supply is plugged in to the rear of the docking station (FIG. 10). The ViewPort Docking Station
provides charging of the battery inside the ViewPoint when it is cradled in the ViewPort. To begin
charging of the extra battery or the rechargeable battery in the touch panel, connect the power
supply to the power supply connector.
Insert or remove a battery slowly to avoid false indications on the LEDs.
A charge session for a battery on the ViewPort lasts for 20 hours and then stops regardless of the
battery's power level. The ViewPort has a self-contained smart-chip that reads the power level of
the battery and then "decides" the amount of power and duration for the best possible charge per
session. If the battery has not been completely charged in a single session, remove the battery (or
the entire ViewPoint unit if the battery being charged lies within the unit) from the ViewPort and
after a few seconds, reposition the unit/device back on the docking station for another charging
session.
