If E -1 0 gasoline absorbs enough moisture, it c a n suffer
phase separation. The ethanol and water mixture will
fall out of suspension and c o llec t in the lowest parts
of the fuel system. The ethanol and water mixture
can damage engines, clog fuel filters, and corrode
metal fuel system parts.

gasoline should always be k e pt as full as possible to
reduc e exposure to moisture from c o ndensation and
humidity.
Conc e ntrations of ethanol greater than 1 0 %
c a n
c h ange the physic al properties of some rubber and
plastic fuel system parts suc h as gask e ts, hoses,
tanks, and filters. Regularly inspect all non metal fuel
system parts for signs of swelling or deterioration. In
some extreme c a ses, rubber parts suc h as hoses and
gask e ts c an ac t ually sweat liq uid gasoline. B e alert
for the odor of gasoline or small droplets of gasoline
near these parts.
Always have fuel system repairs performed by a
qualified marine technician.
