Starting the Engines

B efore you attempt to start the engines, ensure the lower
units are in water of sufficient depth for operation and
that there are no people or objec t s in the vic i nity subjec t
to injury or damage.
In order to start the boat' s engines, you need to follow
a specific sequence, including running the blower to
dispel fumes, turning on the batteries, engaging the k e y
switc h es, sec u ring the ignition shutoff switc h lanyard,
positioning the c o ntrols in NE UTRAL and then ac t ivating
the S TART setting on the push-to-start panel for eac h
engine.

Battery Selector Switches

This boat uses remote battery selec t or switc h es ( one for
eac h engine) to c o ntrol delivery of D C power from the
batteries. The battery switc h es are loc a ted behind an
ac c ess door on the starboard side of the c o ntrol station.
In order to start the engines, the battery switc h es must
be in the ON position.
• Y ou must turn the remote engine battery switc h es
to the ON position before you use the main engine
start switc h es.
• The c e nter battery switc h also c o ntrols the power
to the c o mponents powered by the house battery.
• Y ou must turn the main engine k e y switc h es to the
OF F position after you sec u re the engines from
servic e .
• Y ou should turn the remote engine battery
switc h es to the OF F position after you sec u re the
engines from servic e .
