Installation Checklist
Did a structural engineer approve the mounting structure? See page 7 for Big Ass Fans approved
mounting structures.
Do you have the correct safety cable? Are you familiar with its use? See page 19 for information
on properly securing the safety cable.
Will the fan be installed so that the airfoils have at least 2 ft (0.61 m) of clearance from
obstructions?
Will the fan be installed so that it is not subjected to high winds (such as from an HVAC system
or near a large garage door)? If the fan is mounted at the same level or higher than the diffuser, the
winglets must be at a distance that is at least 1x the measure of the fan's diameter. If the fan is mounted
at the same height or below the diffuser, the winglets must be at a distance that is at least 2x the
measure of the fan's diameter.
Will the distance between multiple fans be at least 2.5x the fans' diameter when measured from
the centers of the fans?
If installing on an I-beam, is the upper yoke the correct size? See page 11 for more information on
installing the fan on an I-beam.
If you ordered multiple fans, did you keep the parts of each fan together?
Some motors are labeled, "This Unit Factory Wired for 460 VAC." If you have a 200–250V or
100–125V controller, did you rewire the motor for proper use?
Do you have the correct power circuit for the fan controller? See page 2 for information on
selecting the correct circuit/fuse for the fan controller.
