Delivery, transport to and installation in the boiler room
Delivery
We use crane trucks for delivery to and
for offloading at the place of installation
as far as site conditions permit.
Transport to and installation in the boiler
room
The boilers are provided with sufficient
lugs to which lifting gear can be attached.

Boiler location

General requirements
The boiler room must comply with the
requirements of the corresponding
national regulations.
If the boilers are to be installed in rooms
where air pollution from halogenated hy
drocarbons is present, adequate
measures must be taken to ensure a suffi
cient supply of clean air for combustion.
Please consult us if in doubt.
Boilers should not be installed in rooms
with high levels of dust or humidity.
The boiler room should be frostproof and
well ventilated. If these requirements are
not complied with, no liability can be ac
cepted for resulting boiler damage.
The boilers are particularly suitable for
installation in the roof space. They do not
need a tall stack as they are operated with
positive pressure in the combustion
chamber.
Combustion air supply
In the case of open-flued firing systems
with a total rated output of more than
50 kW, the combustion air supply is con
sidered satisfactory where the systems
are installed in rooms which have an
opening or ducting to outside air. The
cross-section of the opening must be at

least 150 cm
plus 2 cm
for each kW
over 50 kW rated output. Ducting must be
adequately sized in terms of the flow con
figuration. The required cross-sectional
area must be spread over a maximum of
2 openings or ducts.

On the Vitocrossal 300 (Type CT3) with
rated outputs of 170 to 595 kW, the front
section of the combustion chamber can be
removed to facilitate access into the boiler
room (please specify when ordering).
On the Vitocrossal 300 (Type CR3) with
rated outputs of 720 and 895 kW, the com
bustion chamber and heat exchanger can
be separated and transported individually
(surcharge applicable, please specify when
ordering).
The longitudinal base rails assist transport
into the boiler room. If required, transport
into the boiler room and installation on pre
pared foundations can be carried out by our
own specialist staff. A charge is made for
this service.

Combustion air openings and ducts must
not be closed or obstructed unless special
safety measures have been taken to en
sure that the firing systems can only oper
ate when the openings and ducts are
open. The required cross-section must not
be reduced by covers or grating.
The necessary combustion air supply can
be provided in other ways, too.
Installation rooms for firing systems
Firing systems for gaseous and liquid
fuels with a total rated output of more
than 50 kW can only be installed in rooms
which
The boilers can stand on a level concrete
floor without any special foundation. To
facilitate cleaning of the boiler room, it is
advisable to place the boiler on a plinth.
Please refer to the technical data sheet of
the boiler concerned for details of the rec
ommended minimum wall clearances re
quired for installation and maintenance
purposes.
If measures are required to eliminate
structure-borne sound, the boilers can be
placed on vibration-absorbing boiler sup
ports.
H are not used for other purposes, with
the exception of the installation of heat
pumps, combined heating and power
stations and stationary combustion en
gines and the storage of fuels
H have no other openings into other
rooms with the exception of openings
for doors
H have doors which are self-closing and
are air-tight when closed
H can be ventilated.
An emergency switch must be arranged
outside the installation room with which
the burner and fuel supply of the firing
systems can be switched off whenever
necessary. A sign bearing the text
"EMERGENCY SWITCH FOR FIRING
SYSTEM" must be provided next to the
emergency switch.
Contrary to the requirements to be fulfil
led by the installation room, the firing
systems can be installed in other rooms if
H the use of these rooms requires this and
the firing systems can be operated safely
or
H these rooms are located in freestanding
buildings which serve the sole purpose
of operating a firing system and storing
fuel.
Other requirements regarding the instal
lation of firing systems
Immediately upstream of gas firing sys-
tems installed in rooms, fuel lines must
be equipped with a device which
H automatically shuts off the fuel supply
in the event of external thermal stress
of more than 100 ºC and
H is designed so that no more than 30
ltr/h, measured as an air flow, can flow
through or out up to a temperature of
650 ºC over a period of at least
30 minutes.
