Clearance to Combustible Materials
• There may be no combustible materials located
anywhere within 36" (914 mm) of the front of
the fireplace insert. This precaution includes
items such as drapes or doors that could swing
into the area within 36" of the insert.
Minimum Clearances for units with
serial numbers after 11902
Serialized labels are located on the shipping crate, firebox floor, and firebox shroud.
General Clearances
All clearance specifications are approved for both
the U.S. and Canada, except as noted. Clearances
are measured from the hearth surface, door
opening, or center line as noted below.
For units with Serial Numbers after 11902

• Specific clearance (open space) must be
maintained between the fireplace insert and
combustible materials located above and to the side.
See figures 5-6 for minimum dimensions.

Mantel Clearances

The installation must conform to the minimum
mantel clearances specified in the chart below. These
clearances may be reduced with installation of Jøtul
Mantel Heat Shield 156448 as specified in the chart.
Clearance reduction to mantel construction may also
be made in conformance to NFPA 211 or CAN/CSA B365.
