Troubleshooting
Problem
The HPi-50e does not appear among
the instruments connected to your
application (such as Piano Partner for
iPhone)
The iPhone cannot connect to the
Internet
Limitations regarding audio files
• Ambience will not be applied to audio files (p. 24).
• Audio data cannot be saved in the HPi-50e's internal memory. In order to record audio, you must connect a USB flash drive (sold separately) (p. 17).
• The part mute function cannot be used for audio file playback (p. 34).
• Audio files cannot be copied.

Error Messages

Indication Meaning
You can only read the music file.
Error 1
It can not be saved.
An error occurred during writing. The external media may be corrupted.
Error 2 Insert other external media and try again. Alternatively, you can initialize the external media.
The external media's protect tab may be in the "Protect" (writing prohibited) position may not yet be initialized.
No external media is inserted.
Error 10
Insert the external media and try again.
There is not sufficient free memory in the save destination.
Error 11
Either insert other external media or delete unneeded files and try again.
An error occurred during reading. The external media may be corrupted.
Error 14
Insert other external media and try again. Alternatively, you can initialize the external media.
Error 15 The file is unreadable. The data format is not compatible with the unit.
Data was not called up in time for playback of the song.
Error 16
After waiting several seconds, you may be able to play back the song by pressing the [
This audio format is not supported.
Error 18
Please use 44.1 kHz 16-bit linear WAV format audio files.
Error 30 The internal memory capacity of the unit is full.
The HPi-50e cannot deal with the excessive MIDI data sent from the USB MIDI.
Error 40
Reduce the amount of MIDI data sent to the HPi-50e.
A MIDI transmission error has occurred.
Error 43
Check the connected USB MIDI device.
This access point is not compatible.
Error 46
Use WPA/WPA2 authentication methods.
There may be a problem with the system. Repeat the procedure from the beginning.
Error 51
If it is not solved after you have tried several times, contact the Roland service center.
The USB flash drive connector was subjected to excessive current.
Error 65
Make sure that there is no problem with the external media, then turn the power off, then on again.

Cause/Action
• Is the HPi-50e turned on?
• Is a wireless USB adapter (WNA1100-RL) connected to the HPi-50e's USB Memory port?
• Is the HPi-50e connected to the wireless LAN?
• Are the HPi-50e and the iPhone connected to the same network (i.e., the same wireless LAN access point)?
• Is the wireless LAN access point set to allow communication among the devices connected to it?
Refer to the wireless LAN's documentation for information about the relevant settings.
• Is the wireless LAN access point connected to the Internet?
• Could you be connected in Ad-Hoc mode?
The iPhone or other wireless device connected in Ad-Hoc mode will be unable to communicate with the Internet or with another
wireless device. However, an iPhone or other wireless device that has cellular capability will be able to connect to the Internet via the
cellular connection. Please be aware that if you use a cellular connection for Internet connectivity, you may incur costs depending on
your rate plan.
