the condition is not temporary, the DO NOT SHIFT light may come back

Tb,e SERVICE INDICATOR indicates that the transmission is opetating
. . with reduced capapilities. Although the transmission can continue to operate,·
promptly seek service to miIlimize the potential fOll damage. A diagnostic code
will ,be registered in the ECU rwhenSERVICE has been indicated .

histrument panel gauge or overtemp

If the transmission fluid tempera-
tare is outside the normal limits, stop the vehicle at a safe location and summon
service. If the temperature is within limits, the vehicle may be carefully driven
to aservice facility if conditionscan be negotiated safely ....

DIAGNOSTIC CODES
Illumination of the DO NOT SHIFT or SERVICE li1Sht during vehicle
. . operatiQn indicates that the ECU has registered a cliagnostic code. Diagnostic
codes canbedisp]ayed on the display portion of theshiftselector.
To display the codes:

Stop the vehicH\ shift into NEUTRAL and set the
parking brake.
. -2. Simultaneously preSS the UP and DOWN arrow buttons
one time. The four digits of the CUiTent code and any
pertinent parametp's are continuously flashed on the
display. '
3. Press, theMODE button to cycle the display to the next
-. ¢ode with it's pertinent information. Dashes indicate .all
stored codes have been displayed. .
