Software Update

■ Notes on Software Updates
• You are charged for data communication when connecting to the
Internet from the product by using packet communication.
• When software update is necessary, you will be informed on au
homepage, etc. For details, contact an au shop or Customer Service
Center (call toll-free 157). Also, users of au phones will receive a
notice from au, when software update is necessary to improve the
functionality of au phones.
• Please update when your phone is sufficiently charged. If the remaining
battery power is not sufficient, the battery may run out and the
software update will fail.
• Please check your reception. If you are in an area with insufficient
reception, the software update may fail.
• The data registered to your au phone (contacts, pictures, downloads)
and your settings information will not change with a software update.
However, depending on the au phone's state (if it's damaged or
suffered a water spill), then there are no guarantees regarding the data.
It is recommended that you back up your data before performing a
software update.
• After performing a software update, it may be that the next latest
software downloads will automatically start (continuous update).
• If software update has failed or stopped, perform the same again.
• If you fail to update software, it may become impossible to operate the
product. If this happens, bring it to an au shop or PiPit (not accepted
by some shops).

Please update your software when you receive notification of an update
on your phone.
You can check and install software updates even when you have not
received a notification.

Screen Lock

You can set a screen lock for when your display turns off to prevent
other people from using your phone without permission.
Instructions: On the home screen, tap
security → Set up screen lock
The Screen Lock Select menu will be displayed.
• None: Disable screen unlock secuirty.
• Pattern: Draw a pattern to unlock the screen.
• PIN: Enter a PIN to unlock the screen.
• Password: Enter a password to unlock the screen.
