Spot Colour Matching

The Spot Colour Matching option provides automatic matching of spot colours with
their best CMYK equivalents.
• —The Fiery uses a built-in table to generate the closest CMYK matches of spot

colours your ES3640e MFP can produce. (New tables are generated when you add
new output profiles.) With Spot-On, the Fiery uses the CMYK matches determined

For jobs that include spot colours, set Spot Colour Matching to On unless you are
printing press simulations. In that case, set Spot Colour Matching to Off and choose
the appropriate CMYK Simulation setting (see
For PDF jobs that include spot colours and where the spot colours are not included in
the built-in table, setting Spot Colour Matching to On retains the spot colour
originally specified. The Fiery references the built-in table to generate the closest
CMYK matches of the original spot colour.

Spot Colour Matching and the PANTONE Coated Colour Reference
The PANTONE Coated Colour Reference (described in the
Chapter 4) prints differently depending on the Spot Colour Matching setting.
