1-2 Installing Deciding On an Installation Site Install in a stable location offering good operating conditions. An unsuitable location can cause accident, faulty operation, or breakdown. WARNING Never use out of doors or in any location where exposure to water or high humidity may occur.
1-2 Installing Assembling the Stand For an explanation of how to assemble the unit and the stand (PNS-642/502/402/302), refer to the “ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS” included with the stand. CAUTION Use the joining screws to secure the unit to the stand. Failure to do so may result in falling of the unit, leading to injury. CAUTION Use care to avoid pinching the fingers when placing the unit on the stand.
1-2 Installing Connecting the Cables WARNING Connect to an electrical outlet that complies with this machine's ratings (for voltage, frequency, and current). Incorrect voltage or insufficient current may cause fire or electrical shock. WARNING Handle the power cord, plug, and electrical outlet correctly and with care. Never use any article that is damaged.
Never use a USB hub or the like. Serial Connection (Windows only) Use a serial cable from Roland DG Corp. sold separately (for an IBM-compatible computer, use a crossover cable such as the XY-RS-34) or equivalent. A straight cable such as a modem cable will not work.
This is a Windows-based driver required for sending data from a computer to the machine. Before you start installation and setup, make sure the USB cable is not connected. Log on to Windows as "Administrators" right. Insert the Roland Software Package CD-ROM into the computer.
