PROBABLE CAUSE
A. Governor improperly
adjusted.
B. Binding in governor-to-
carburetor linkage.
C. Governor belt slipping.
D. Carburetor mixture
either too lean or
too rich.
E. Engine timing too fast.
F. Faulty ignition.
A. Insufficient air
to carburetor.
B. Restricted exhaust
system.
C. Carburetor dirty or
improperly adjusted.
D. Low compression.
TEST, CHECK, AND/OR
REMEDY
A. Adjust governor. See Sect.
2-3, Para. 3.
B. Free linkage.
C. Adjust or replace belt as
required.
D. Check carburetor. Adjust
for proper mixture according
to Ford Maintenance and
Operator's Manual. Replace
carburetor if defective.
E. Adjust timing according
to instructions in Ford
Maintenance and Operator's
Manual.
F. Check complete ignition
system and repair as required.
A. Check and service air
cleaner.
B. Check exhaust pipe for
restrictions. Check muffler
for clogged condition.
Replace as required.
C. Clean and/or adjust or re-
place carburetor as necessary
D. Check compression in all
cylinders according to
Ford Maintenance and
Operator's Manual. Engine
may need new rings or valves.
