- LCD screen to select thread color and choose from 700 stitches
- Two USB ports (USB cable and stick not included)
- Built-in File Manager for managing designs, fonts, and stitch files

I cannot get the foot of the sewing machine to go down on top of the throat plate. It will not go up or down.

To fix the foot on the Husqvarna Viking Designer SE sewing machine that is stuck and won't move up or down, follow these steps:

1. Check the Free Motion Setting: If Free Motion mode is activated, the foot may behave differently. In Free Motion, the foot raises and lowers with each stitch below 200 stitches per minute and floats over the fabric above that speed. Turn off Free Motion mode if it's not needed.

2. Sensor Q-Foot Mode: If the machine is set for the Sensor Q-foot, it limits stitch width and may affect foot movement. Turn off this setting if you are not using the Sensor Q-foot.

3. Power Cycle the Machine: Turn off the machine using the ON/OFF switch, unplug it from the wall and the machine, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This may reset the foot positioning mechanism.

4. Check for Obstructions: Ensure there is no fabric, thread, or debris blocking the foot mechanism.

If the foot still does not move after these steps, there may be an internal mechanical or electronic issue requiring service.

May 17, 2025

To thread the Husqvarna Designer SE for bobbin winding:

1. Place the spool on the auxiliary spool pin.
2. Ensure the main spool pin is in horizontal position.
3. Guide the thread down around the thread tension disc (a).
4. Then pass the thread through the thread guide (b).
5. Wind the thread clockwise a few turns around the bobbin.
6. Insert the thread into the thread cutter (c).
7. Depending on the thread type, wrap the thread one or two turns around the bobbin thread tension disc.
8. Use two turns for embroidery weight bobbin thread.

The machine has a separate motor that allows bobbin winding while embroidering or sewing.

I have a Husqvarna Designer SE. I cannot get the machine to lower the walking foot to machine quilt. Can you help me?

To lower the walking foot (Sensor Foot) on the Husqvarna Viking Designer SE for machine quilting, press the "Sensor Foot Down" button. This will completely lower the presser foot. For thick fabrics, first press the "Sensor Foot Up and Extra Lift" button to raise the foot and lower the feed teeth, then position the fabric and press "Sensor Foot Down."

To outline letters with the Husqvarna Designer SE, follow these steps:

1. Select the Outline block alphabet.
2. Touch the letter you want (e.g., L) in the stitch selection area. The letter will appear on the screen and be highlighted in red, indicating it is active.
3. To add more letters (e.g., "inda"), switch to lower case letters by touching "a.." in the stitch selection area.
4. Touch each desired letter (i, n, d, a) to add them. The active letter is highlighted in red; others are dark grey. Jumpstitches between letters appear in lighter grey.
5. To sew the outlined letters, press the function button to sew the program once. The machine will tie off the thread and stop.
6. Press the function button again to cut the threads and raise the presser foot.

The compatible embroidery unit for the Husqvarna Designer SE is the one specifically designed for the Designer SE model. It calibrates automatically when attached and should not be interchanged with units from other models like the Viking Rose, as compatibility is not guaranteed.
