Removal of Cylinder Head
1. Loosen the cylinder head bolts following the
sequence shown in (Figure 6-43).

1) Cooling Fan End
2) Camshaft Side
2. Remove the cylinder head bolts (Figure 6-44, (1)).
3. Lift the cylinder head away from the cylinder block.
Discard the cylinder head gasket (Figure 6-44,
(2)). Place the cylinder head on the work bench to
prevent damage to the combustion surface.

Removal of Intake and Exhaust Valves
1. Place the cylinder head on the work bench with
the combustion side down.
2. Using the valve spring compressor tool, compress
one of the valve springs (Figure 6-45).
