Refer to the engine manual included in your parts packet for
information on engine maintenance. Your engine manual provides
detailed information and a maintenance schedule for performing the
following tasks:
1. Check oil level every 5 hours of operation, or daily (follow the
maintenance schedule included with your engine manual).
2. Change oil after first 5 hours of operation. Change oil while
engine is warm. Refill with new oil of recommended grade.
3. Check air cleaner. See engine manual for instructions.
4. Keep engine and parts clean. See engine manual for instructions
on cleaning finger guard/rotating screen, linkage, springs and
controls, muffler area, cooling system, and spark plug.
Engine can overheat and become damaged if
IMPORTANT
debris blocks the cooling system or rotating screen.
Your tiller has a transmission separate from the engine transmission.
It is shipped with the proper amount of 00 liquid grease. Check the
grease level annually (more frequently if leakage occurs around the
seals). To check the grease level:
1. Move tiller to level ground.
2. Remove grease level check-plug, located above the tine shaft on
the right side of the tiller transmission. Grease level is correct
when grease seeps from the plug hole. If grease does not seep
from the plug hole:
The tiller transmission holds just under a quart of
IMPORTANT
grease when filled to the proper level. In normal
operation, it does not lose fluid.
