2.4 Precautions for maintenance
Inspection and maintenance after turning E.C.S.S. switch
off
For machines equipped with a E.C.S.S. lower the bucket to the
ground, turn the E.C.S.S. switch OFF, and stop the engine
before starting inspection or maintenance. NEVER turn the
switch ON during inspection or maintenance.
Proper tools
Use only tools suited to the task and be sure to use the tools cor-
rectly. Using damaged, low quality, faulty, makeshift tools or
improper use of the tools could cause serious personal injury.
Accumulator
WARNING
Danger of injury! Pressure accumulator is filled with highly pres-
surised nitrogen. Do not open or damage the pressure accumu-
lator.
The accumulator is charged with high-pressure nitrogen gas.
When handling the accumulator, careless procedure may cause
an explosion which could lead to serious injury or property dam-
age. For this reason, always observe the following precautions.
Do not disassemble the accumulator.
Do not bring it near flame or dispose of it in fire.
Do not make holes in it, weld it, or use a cutting torch.
Do not hit or roll the accumulator, or subject it to any impact.
When disposing of the accumulator, the gas must be
released. Please contact your KOMATSU distributor to have
this work performed.
Personnel
Only authorized personnel can service and repair the machine.
Do not allow unauthorized personnel into the area. If necessary,
employ an observer.
