This optional prompt identifies the units of measurement for the point value (called
engineering units). This field is optional. The descriptor can contain from 0 to 6 characters.
Valid characters include the following: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, spaces ( ), periods (.), commas (,), dashes
(-), underlines (_), and apostrophes (').

The following attribute is used to identify access groups for the point:

This prompt identifies to which access group(s) a point belongs. Valid entries range from 1 to
30. Pressing E E E E n n n n t t t t e e e e r r r r without entering a number(s), will default to all access groups. To define
more than one access group, you can use either of the following conventions:

Use commas to separate the access group numbers (1, 10, 22 - for access groups 1,
10, and 22).
x
Use double periods to define a range (1..8 - for access groups 1 through 8).
If the defined access groups are unknown, type ? ? ? ? and press E E E E n n n n t t t t e e e e r r r r . The system displays a list
of all defined access groups.

The following attributes are used for point alarming:

This attribute specifies if the point will use standard alarming. Answering N N N N will forego the
remaining alarm prompting.

This attribute specifies if the point will use enhanced alarming. Answering Y Y Y Y to this prompt
requires you to set up enhanced alarming information for the point at a later time. Answering
N N N N to this prompt assigns the point to use standard alarming. Refer to the Alarm Management
chapter for more information on alarming.

This attribute specifies if the system should print an alarm message when the point condition
changes to ALARM, the point is commanded into ALARM or the point fails. Answer Y Y Y Y to print
alarms, otherwise, answer N to suppress alarm printing for the point.
!$ODUPýFRXQWýëýõ<î1ô
This attribute specifies if the system should update the PPCL ALMCT2 resident point when
this point enters ALARM. This PPCL resident point allows for closer monitoring of critical
points. Answering Y Y Y Y causes both the ALMCNT and ALMCT2 counters to increment by 1
when a point enters alarm. N N N N updates the ALMCNT resident point only.
