Scanner / Imager Port

Scanner / Imager Port
The MX8WM has one integrated barcode scanner/imager port. Only one scan engine is installed at a time. Scan engines are
not "hot swappable". The MX8WM may have one of three scan engines:
Intermec EV-15 linear imager
l
Symbol SE955-I000WR
l
Hand Held Products 5300 2D image undecoded scanner
l
The integrated scan engine activates when the Scan button on the front of the MX8WM is pressed or when the trigger on an
installed trigger handle is pressed. A system applet
scanner/imager options.
Functionality of the integrated scan engine driver is based on the decoder driver version installed in the MX8WM. Functions
may include audible tones on good scan (at the maximum db supported by the speaker), failed scan, LED indication of a scan
in progress, among other functions. If enabled, a vibration device provides a tactile response on a good scan event.

Bluetooth LXEZ Pairing

The MX8WM contains Bluetooth version 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) up to 3.0 Mbit/s over the air. Bluetooth device
connection (or pairing) can occur at distances up to 32.8 ft (10 meters) Line of Sight. The wireless client retains network
connectivity while Bluetooth is active.
The user will not be able to select PIN authentication or encryption on connections from the MX8WM. However, the MX8WM
supports authentication requests from pairing devices. If a pairing device requests authentication or encryption, the MX8WM
displays a prompt for the PIN or passcode. Maximum encryption is 128 bit. Encryption is based on the length of the user's
passcode.
The Bluetooth client can simultaneously support one printer as a slave Bluetooth device and one scanner, either as a slave or
as a master Bluetooth device. Bluetooth devices can be added and removed using a system panel
Bluetooth).
The MX8WM does not have a Bluetooth managed LED.
l
The LED on the mobile Bluetooth scanner illuminates during a scanning operation; the Scan LED on the MX8WM does
l
not illuminate.
Barcode data captured by the Bluetooth scanner is manipulated by the settings in the MX8WM Data Collection panel.
l
Multiple beeps may be heard during a barcode scan using the mobile Bluetooth scanner; beeps from the Bluetooth
l
scanner as the barcode data is accepted/rejected, and other beeps from the MX8WM during final barcode data
manipulation.
