Make sure the side stand is fully re-
tracted before riding the motorcycle.
If
Ihe
stand is extended, it may interfere
with control during a left tum.

Do not downshift when traveling at
a speed that would force the engine to
overrev in the next lower gear, or cause
the rear whee/to lose traction.
Shifting pattern

Proper shifting
will
provide better fuel
economy.
When
changing gears under
normal conditions, use the shifting points
recommended by Honda as follows:
Shifting Up:
From Ist to 2nd 16 mph (25 km/hY
From 2nd to 3rd 22 mph (35 km/h)
From 3rd
to
4th 28 mph (45 krn/b)
From 4th to OD 34 mph (55 km/h)
Shifting Down:
From OD
to
4th 25 mph (40 krn/h)
From 4th to 3rd 19 rnph (30 krn/h)
Disengage the clutch when the speed
drops below 9 mph (I5 km/h), when
engine roughness is evident, or when
engine stalling is imminent; and shift
down to 1st gear for acceleration.
