BRAKING
This motorcycle is equipped with a unified
braking system. Depressing the brake pedal
applies the fear brake and the right
front
disc. Operating the brake lever additionally
applies the left front disc. For full braking
effectiveness, use both the pedal and lever
simultaneously. as you
would with a
conventional motorcycle brake system.
For normal braking. apply both the brake
pedal and lever while down-shifting to
match your road speed. For maximum
braking, close the throttle and firmly apply
the pedal and lever; disengage the clutch
before the motorcycle stops.
1?tN.i;WW1
,. Independent operation of only the
brake lever or brake pedal reduces
stopping performance.
*
Extreme
application
of the
brake
controls may cause wheel/ock, reducing
control of the motorcycle.
*
When possible, reduce speed or brake
before entering a turn; closing the
48
throttle or excessive braking in mid-turn
may cause wheel slip, reducing control
of the motorcycle.
*
When riding in wet or rainy conditions,
or on loose surfaces, the ability to
maneuver and stop will be reduced.
All of your actions should be smooth
under these conditions. Sudden accele-
ration, braking or turning may cause
loss of control. For your safety, exercise
extreme caution when braking, accele-
rating or turning.
*
When descending a long, steep grade,
use engine compression braking by
downshifting, with intermittent use of
both brakes. Continuous brake applica-
tion can overheat the brakes and reduce
their effectiveness.
