How to Use

Monitoring Your Card

The card uses one LED to indicate the connection rate and activity of the card. A
GREEN/AMBER/OFF LED indicates that a 1000/100/10 Mbps connection (respectively)
is established at that rate. A blinking LED indicates that there is traffic flow on the
network.
No Link/Activity LED lit at 1000/100 Mbps indicates an error. Make sure that all devices
are turned on and that the network cable is properly connected at both ends. Also
make sure that your network cables comply with EIA/TIA 568 and at least Cat 5e
specifications.
If problems persist, power down all devices and disconnect all plugs. Wait at least ten
seconds then plug the devices back in and power them up.

Connecting Your Card to Your Network

Depending on how you are planning on using the card, the device you are connecting
it to and the type of cable you need may differ. To take advantage of the card's Gigabit
(1000 Mbits/sec) capacity, it is recommended that you always use at least Cat. 5e
Ethernet cable. If you are unsure of the type of cable required for your device, consult
your device manufacturer.
NOTE: StarTech.com carries a wide range of Cat. 5e and Cat. 6 Ethernet cables in
various colors and lengths. For more information on these products, as well as tips and
