    When servicing use only identical replacement parts. MOTOR Many Porter-Cable tools will operate on either D.C., or single phase 25 to 60 cycle A.C. current and voltage within plus or minus 5 percent of that shown on the specification plate on the tool. Several models, however, are designed for A.C.

    3:25 PM Page 7 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION FOREWORD Porter-Cable disc grinders are designed for numerous grinding operations. Typical applications are auto body grinding, smoothing welding beads, removing gates and flash from castings, and removing rust. TO START AND STOP THE MACHINE CAUTION: Make sure switch is OFF and power circuit voltage is the same as that shown on the specification plate.
  • Page 8 300918- 08-13-02.qxd 9/13/02 3:26 PM Page 8 TO INSTALL WHEEL GUARD A TYPE 27 wheel guard is furnished with the tool. A TYPE 1 wheel guard is available as an accessory for cut-off wheels. Both guards are installed and adjusted in the same manner. WARNING: Always use an approved, and properly adjusted wheel guard where required (see ACCESSORIES Section of this manual).

    FACTORY SERVICE CENTER. At approximately 100 hours of use, take or send your tool to your nearest authorized Porter-Cable Service Station to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Have worn parts replaced and lubricate with fresh lubricant. Have new brushes installed, and test the tool for performance.
