4.4.5 Configuring Advanced Network Settings

Configure the advanced wireless settings for your access point using the screens in this section. Leave these settings to their default
values if you are not sure what values to enter.
Select a data rate from the drop-down list. The
Data Rate
data rate affects throughput. If you select a low data rate
value, for example, the throughput is reduced but the
transmission distance increases.
Lets you increase or decrease transmit
Transmit Power
power. Higher transmit power may prevent connections to the
network, while the lower transmit power can prevent clients
from connecting to the device.
Specify the threshold package size for
RTS/CTS Threshold
RTC/CTS. A small number causes RTS/CTS packets to be sent more often and consumes more bandwidth.
Specify the distance between Access Points and clients. Longer distances may drop high-speed connections.
Distance
Merges data packets into one packet. This option reduces the number of packets, but increases packet sizes.
Aggregation

Wireless Traffic Shaping

Enable or disable the regulation of
Enable Traffic Shaping
packet flow leaving an interface for improved QoS.
Specify the wireless transmission
Incoming Traffic Limit
speed used for downloading.
Specify the wireless transmission
Outgoing Traffic Limit
speed used for uploading.
Specify the total percentage of the wireless traffic that is shaped.
Total Percentage
Specify the percentage of the wireless traffic that is shaped for a specific SSID.
