Operating Problems

The tables in this section aid in determining the cause of printer malfunctions and provide
a list of steps to follow to correct each problem. The steps in the "What to do" column
progress from correcting the most likely cause to correcting the least likely cause of the
problem. The tables are grouped according to the following types of problems:
Problem
Printer Does Not Function
When Turned On
Problem
Printer Cycles But Does Not
Print
Operating
Printing
Electronic
Messages
Possible Causes
Printer not plugged in.
Receipt cover not fully closed.
Cables within the printer are
improperly connected to the PC
board.
ROM improperly positioned.
DIP switches not set correctly.
Improper power ground or
voltage supply.
Failed PC Board.
Possible Causes
Cable connecting the printhead
to the PC board is not properly
connected.
What To Do
Check that printer cables are properly connected
on both ends. Make sure the ground wire is
properly connected.
Check that the host or power supply is getting
power.
Close and latch the receipt cover.
Make sure the cables in the printer are properly
connected to the PC board.
Check that the ROM is properly positioned.
Check the switch settings.
Check that the ground strap connecting the L
Cover and PC board is properly connected.
Replace the PC Board.
What To Do
Check the cable connection to the printhead and to
the PC board.
