PARKING BRAKE The parking brakes are part of the most im- portant safety elements of a wheelchair. Caution: Please observe the Maintenance Instruc- tions as well as instructions in the section “General Safety Information” and “Brakes” in the brochure “Safety information - Me- chanical wheelchairs”! PRESSURE BRAKE The wheelchair is fitted with pressure brakes.
Adjusting the pressure brakes The pressure brakes must be readjusted after each re-fitting of a drive wheel. Handling: – Loosen the clamping screw (1, fig. 4) of one pressure brake. – Pre-set the pressure brake – Slide the brake bolt of the non-activated pressure brake to a point approx.
DRUM BRAKES The drum brake is activated by the attendant through the brake levers on the extended han- dles (fig. 4.1). Benefits: – braking action independent of tyre pro- file. – braking action independent of the tyre pressure. – secure handling for your helper through brake levers on both handles.
Locking the drum brakes – Pull both brake levers evenly in order to secure the wheelchair against uninten- tional motion (fig. 4.2). – Press the surface (A, fig. 4.2) of the lock- ing latch down with one finger and let it snap into place.
LEGRESTS Folding up the footboard Benefits: – Easy transfer into and out of the wheel- chair. – Leg region free, no stumbling. – “shuffling” possible (moving the wheelchair forward with the feet). Handling: – Operate parking brakes. – This prevents the wheelchair from rolling away acciden- tally.
Adjusting the length of the legrests The length of the legrest is continually adjust- able through a telescopic tube. Benefits: – Individual adjustment of the legrest to the length of your lower leg Handling: – Operate parking brakes. – This prevents accidental rolling of the wheelchair (see section “Parking brakes”).
CLOTHES GUARD The distance X to the clothes guard running parallel to the wheel diameter (fig. 7) is to be aligned to the selected wheel position. Caution: The distance X between the driving wheel and the mudguard should be as small as possible (approx.

HANDRIMS All handrims (8) are designed for a distance to the driving wheel (9) of 15 mm (standard setting) and 25 mm (fig. 11). Replacement of handrims or modification of handrim distances should always be carried out by your authorized specialist workshop. STEERING WHEELS The steering wheels can be exchanged with- out difficulty.
