2. Firebrick

Your fi replace is lined with high quality fi rebrick, which has
exceptional insulating properties.
Do not operate the fi replace without bricks. Make sure
bricks are installed as shown in Section 5.
Do not use a grate; simply build a fi re on the fi rebox fl oor.
3. Baffl e and Blanket
Ensure correct baffl e and baffl e protection channel place-
ment; replace baffl e components if damaged or missing.
(Please refer to Section 5.)
NOTICE:
Firebox damage due to improper baffl e placement
is not covered by warranty. Operate the wood burning
fi replace with the baffl e in the correct position only. Not
doing so could result in:
reduced effi ciency
overheating the chimney
overheating the rear of the fi rebox
poor performance

Baffl e and Blanket Placement
The ceramic blanket and baffl e board MUST be in contact
with the back of the fi rebox and even with each other in
the front. The baffl e protection channel MUST be in posi-
tion.

4. Over-Firing Your Fireplace

WARNING! Risk of Fire!
Over-firing may ignite creosote or will damage the
fi replace and chimney.
To prevent over-fi ring your fi replace. DO NOT:
use fl ammable liquids
overload with wood
burn trash or large amounts of scrap lumber
permit too much air to the fi re
Symptoms of over-fi ring may include one or more of the
following:
chimney connector or fi replace glowing
roaring, rumbling noises
loud cracking or banging sounds
metal warping
chimney fi re
What to do if your stove is over-fi ring:
Immediately close the door and air controls to reduce
air supply to the fi re.
If you suspect a chimney fi re, call the fi re department
and evacuate your house.
Contact your local chimney professional and have
your stove and stove pipe inspected for any damage.
Do not use your stove until the chimney professional
informs you it is safe to do so.
Hearth & Home Technologies WILL NOT warranty
stoves that exhibit evidence of over-fi ring. Evidence
of over-fi ring includes, but is not limited to:
- warped air tube
- deteriorated refractory brick retainers
- deteriorated baffl e and other interior components

5. Chimney Fire

In the event of a chimney fi re
Have the chimney and adjacent structure inspected by
qualifi ed professionals. Hearth & Home Technologies
recommends that NFI or CSIA certifi ed professionals,
or technicians under the direction of certified
professionals, conduct a minimum of an NFPA 211
Level 2 inspection of the chimney.
Replace components of the chimney and fi replace
as specifi ed by the professionals.
Ensure all joints are properly engaged and the
chimney is properly secured.
