Unit The Unit Configuration page (see Figure 3.3 below) allows the multiplex con-

Unit Configuration, a single backup unit could be loaded with the configura-
tions of several on-line units. Then, in the unusual case of failure of an on-line
unit, the backup could be installed with the correct unit configuration already
loaded. With up to twenty characters allowed for each configuration name,
highly descriptive naming may be used.
Pidsets The Pidsets Config page (see Figure 3.4) allows the selection of programs to
Config Page be included in the output. This is the main page for setting up the multiplex. Up
to 32 separate programs may be included in the output. The concept of Pidsets
is used to facilitate creating the multiplex. The Pidsets are numbered from 1 to
32. A Pidset is a group of 16 PIDs reserved for that Pidset. Each Pidset
includes a PMT and PCR PID as well as video, audio, and data PIDs. In the
example shown, Pidsets 1 through 8 have been activated by selecting one of
the input sources in their input boxes. Then the program number to be included
