ROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
Furnace doesn't stop heating
when the door is opened.
Repeated element burnout.
Inaccurate temperature readout.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Door switch is malfunctioning.
Mechanized relay is
malfunctioning.
Heating harmful materials.
Wrong element.
Oxidized thermocouple.
Contamination present from
previous burnout.
Wired improperly.
Oxidized or contaminated
thermocouple.
Poor thermocouple connection.
Solid state relay malfunction.
Improper loading procedures.
Poor ventilation of base or
cooling fan failed.
Control out of calibration.
Thermocouple connections
reversed.
P.I.D. values invalid.
Control malfunction.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Re-align or replace door
safety switch.
Replace relay.
Clean up spills in and on
chamber.
Ventilate chamber by leaving
top vent slightly open when
heating known harmful reagents.
Install proper element.
Replace thermocouple.
Clean and/or replace
insulation material.
Check wiring diagram for correct
wiring of your furnace.
Replace thermocouple.
Tighten connections.
Replace solid state relay.
Use proper loading procedures.
Clear area around furnace base
or replace cooling fan.
Contact Barnstead International.
Reconnect thermocouple
correctly.
Re-tune control.
Verify and correct all parameter
and configuration values.
If malfunction persists, replace
control.
