A child restraint system that has
been subjected to stress in an
accident must be replaced.
Where to Put the
Restraint
If a child restraint is secured in the
front passenger seat, there is a
switch on the instrument panel to
manually turn off the front
passenger frontal and knee airbags.
See Airbag On-Off Switch on
page 3 15 for more information,
including important safety
information.
DO NOT place a rear-facing child
seat on this seat unless the airbag
is off. DEATH OR SERIOUS
INJURY can occur. This is because
the risk to the rear-facing child is so
great, if the airbag deploys.
DANGER
When using a child restraint
system on the front passenger
seat, the airbag systems for the
front passenger seat must be
deactivated; if not, the triggering
of the airbags poses a risk of fatal
injury to the child.
This is especially the case if
rear-facing child restraint systems
are used on the front
passenger seat.
When securing a child restraint in a
rear seating position, study the
instructions that came with your
child restraint to make sure it is
compatible with this vehicle.
Seats and Restraints
Child restraints and booster seats
vary considerably in size, and some
may fit in certain seating positions
better than others. Always make
sure the child restraint is properly
secured.
Depending on where you place the
child restraint and the size of the
child restraint, you may not be able
to access adjacent safety belt
assemblies or ISOFIX anchors for
additional passengers or child
restraints. Adjacent seating
positions should not be used if the
child restraint prevents access to or
interferes with the routing of the
safety belt.
