Open the Volume settings for Sound recording to view the volume levels selected for the microphone input (Capture) on the computer. The Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog will display, as shown. The solo-Desktop device will be selected. Make sure that the level for the Microphone is close to the top (maximum) and that the Mute box is not checked.

At the bottom of the Microphone section, click the Mute box in the Microphone section to prevent the Microphone directly feeding back its own audio to the earpiece (i.e. “sidetone”). It may be necessary to use the Options- Properties menu to display the Microphone volume control.
