6. Check that the spark plug
washer is in good
condition, and thread the
spark plug in by hand to
prevent cross-threading.
7. After the spark plug is
seated, tighten with a
spark plug wrench to
compress the washer.

If installing a new spark plug, tighten 112 turn after the
spark plug seats to compress the washer.

If reinstalling a used spark plug, tighten l/8 - l/4 turn
after the spark plug seats to compress the washer.

An improperly tightened spark plug can cause serious
engine damage. The spark plug must be securely tightened.
Use only the recommended spark plugs or equivalent.
Sediment Cup Cleaning
1. Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
2. Remove the sediment cup and o-ring and wash them in
nonflammable solvent. Dry them thoroughly.
3. Install the o-ring and sediment cup and tighten securely.
4. Turn the fuel valve to the ON position and check for leaks.
