Safety shield for 12, 14 and 16 wood lathes

9. Insert the ends on the top of backscreen (N) Fig. 11,
into the two pre-drilled holes in the ends of the safety
shield bracket (T) and fasten in place with two push nuts
(R), one of which is shown.
10. The safety shield (N) Fig. 12, is equipped with two
locking levers (S) (one of which is shown). When the
safety shield (N) Fig. 12, is in the down position, the
locking levers (S) will engage the safety shield (N) and
lock it in place. To raise the safety shield (N) Fig. 12, the
locking levers (S) must be released manually by gently
pushing up on locking levers (S) and raising the safety
shield (N). Fig. 13, illustrates the safety shield (N) in the
raised position.
11. Position the horizontal bar (L) Fig. 14, anywhere in
channel (J) of support arm (H) by loosening two screws
(M) and sliding safety shield to the desired position.
NOTE: When moving the bar, hold it firmly to prevent
binding.
12. Depending on the size of the work, the support arm
(H) Fig. 14 can be adjusted up or down. For maximum
operator protection, adjust the support arm (H) Fig. 14,
so that the bottom of the safety shield (N) Fig. 12, when
locked, is positioned a maximum of 1-1/2" to 2" above
the tool rest (V).
