The Low Battery message will appear about eight hours before your AA
batteries are dead and about 20 minutes before your rechargeable
batteries are dead.
Battery Status Indicator
A display of the current battery charge level is available within
AlphaWord when you use the keyboard command ctrl-
display shows a graphical representation of the battery charge level. In
addition, the graphical representation of the battery charge level is
shown in the startup screen when the AlphaSmart 3000 is powered on,
and in the screen that you see when you change files in AlphaWord.
Note: Available only with AlphaSmart 3000 v 1.4 or higher
Lithium Battery
AlphaSmart 3000 also uses a secondary backup battery that is not user-
accessible. This 3V lithium coin cell battery (CR2032) powers the
memory, preventing data loss when the unit is turned off and the
primary AA batteries or rechargeable battery pack are dead. This
lithium battery should be good for approximately 7–10 years. It is
mounted in a socket and is replaceable.
To determine if the 3V lithium battery has been discharged:
1. Enter some text into the AlphaSmart 3000.
2. Turn the unit off.
3. Remove the AA batteries and make sure the unit is not plugged
4. Wait two minutes.
5. Replace the AA batteries or plug the AlphaSmart 3000 into an
