Troubleshooting

Following is a list of difficulties you may encounter while using AlphaSmart
3000 and the solutions to these common problems.
When a file is transferred to the Macintosh, some of the characters do
not show up or appear not to have transferred.
My PC beeps when I send text to it.
Nothing appears on the AlphaSmart 3000 screen when I turn it on.

If a USB cable is being used, verify that the AlphaSmart 3000 is run-
ning AlphaWord v1.4 or higher. In the word processing program on
the computer, turn off Auto Correct, Spelling, URL, etc. features.
Disconnect the AlphaSmart 3000 from the Macintosh and check the
file transfer speed by pressing option-
3000 to a slower setting (speed 1 is the slowest).
Try using a different word processing program. Some programs
allow the AlphaSmart 3000 to transfer data faster than others.
Adjust the keyboard control panel in the Macintosh system to a
faster speed to maximize the file transfer speed.
Make sure you have a word processor file open on the PC.
Try changing to a lower send speed by disconnecting the
AlphaSmart 3000 and pressing option-
Check your batteries. Plug your AlphaSmart 3000 into the AC
adapter—if it turns on, your batteries are discharged or have been
